Are there any hotels besides the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza that are on or near City Line Ave?
None of the hotels on City Line are very good. Where do you need to go? Maybe we can point you to a better location.
No sure if you still need this info. There is a Hilton Hotel on City Ave that is pretty nice though it is probably not cheap. I recently attended a function there and the food was excellent.
Has anyone used the auto train to Florida?

Did this last year (in June) with our two kids (6 and 10). Will NEVER do it again. It was a fun adventure, clean, fairly comfortable, pretty good food....for about 10 of the 20+hours it took us to get there. Coming home was a bit better as we figured out to NOT pick a seat close to the snack car. The further away the better. Much less crowded with other kids. There were empty seats so we could spread out and the car door (with light)wasn%26#39;t constantly being opened for people to go to snack car and restroom. We were actually able to sleep a little. That said, my in-laws go to Florida for three months every year. They need to have a car there so they take the train in January. They say it is not crowded at all. They also get a private car and seem to really enjoy watching movies and sipping the complimentary wine. If you go with kids, get to the station very early so you can request the first dinner time. We ate last going down and first coming back. First was much better for the kids. Waiting three hours while smelling dinner was very hard for them.
I prefer to fly, but if budget didn%26#39;t permit, I would rather drive!!
We are planning a bachelorette party in the Bushkill area, due to the fact that my in-laws own a second home there which will save cost on the weekend expenses. We are looking to do horseback riding, hiking (easy courses) and anything fun. Not your stereotypical wild party. Any suggestions/ideas??? I%26#39;ve been searching for hours!!!
Bushkill Falls would be nice for hiking.

S. Clyde Weaver on Manheim Pike (Route 72) in East Pete has an excellent selection of meats and cheeses.
I agree with the previous suggestion. Also, one can find some good vendors at the Lancaster Central Market. I know it is open on Saturday%26#39;s--not sure about other days. Shady Maple and Yoder%26#39;s supermarkets--both east of New Holland on route 23 have a wide variety of selections.
Mandros in downtown Lancaster has amazing cheeses, many shipped directly from Europe. They have the best selection of more exotic and unusual choices along with all the regular cheeses you%26#39;ll find elsewhere. Their cheeses are always very fresh. It%26#39;s on the corner of Charlotte and Lemon Sts.
Also, Central Market hours are Tues and Fri 6-4 and Sat 6-2. S. Clyde Weaver has a stand there in addition to their store on Manheim Pike. I believe (could be wrong) that they also have a stand at the Bird-In-Hand Farmer%26#39;s Market.
How far is Merion from Philadelphia? How do I get reservations (and/or tickets) to see the collection?

Merion is located in Lower Merion Township in Montgomerty County, PA. It%26#39;s part of the ';Main Line';, which is a group of communities along the former Main Line of the Pennsylvania Railroad running west from Philadelphia. Merion is about eight miles or so from Center City Philadelphia. It%26#39;s accessible by local commuter train or bus from Center City.
I haven%26#39;t been to the Barnes myself, but you should be able to find out all you would need to know about reservations to see the collection at www.barnesfoundation.org.
Also, the Barnes has been mentioned in several recent posts on the Philadelphia TripAdvisor forum.

I have been to the Barnes many years ago. From what I remember, no tickets are given prior to your admission. You need to go early and stand in line. The Barnes, back then, only let in about 200 persons a day due to the amount of works and preservation issues. So check out the website that was provided in another reply for more info. But I am guessing that the admission procedure is most likely close to or the same as my experience. On the plus, you will be treated to some really good and rare works. Not to be missed if you can help it.

You can take the train to the Merion station and get a taxi. The taxi ride isn%26#39;t very expensive. Things have changed a lot with admission. You must have prearranged tickets so that link above should work. Give the tour several hours, this is a rare museum. You%26#39;ll see spectacular treasures.I grew up in this area and had the privilege of taking classes there. Don%26#39;t expect food although there is a water machine.
I answered an old post,but the facts are still there.They listed this as close to Famous Dave%26#39;s and that%26#39;s not the case. Sorry about that, but it%26#39;s a great place to go.

Our trip was last year. We took the train out to Merion and walked the few blocks to the Museum through a beautiful neighborhood. The Barnes Foundation was even more fantastic than I imagined...a visual overload! I have heard that it is to be closed and moved into Philadelphia.
What a shame. It can%26#39;t help but loose some of the charm of its location.

Frankly, the best ';beer'; thing to do in that part of the world is to go to Pottsville to take the tour of the oldest brewery in the United States: Yuengling, on Mahantongo Street, just above Center Street. And yes, they give samples...
Yes, My wife and I love to drink Yuengling at home. And will definitely head to Pottsville, but we will be staying in Jim Thorpe for four nights and looking for places to enjoy good beer that are of the darker type.
Having visited Jim Thorpe, I will answer my own question just in case anyone else really likes beer beyond Bud. There are a couple places in Jim Thorpe where you can get Irish beers. The trouble is that in PA smoking is allowed in bars. Not only does that destroy the enjoyment of eating good food, it also does the same for drinking good beer. But if you don%26#39;t mind the smoke Molly Maguires Pub is one place to get a good Irish stout. I think the other place is called A%26amp;J Steak House, which we chose as they have outside seating in the afternoon and thus away from the smoke. The problem there is they charge NYC prices for their beer - $7 for a black and tan. We can bet the same in upstate NY for $3.50. However, the place we found great beer and great food was at Flow. Though it was not Irish beer it was all from PA breweries with a good variety - there was something for everyone among beer lovers.
